Workspaces¶
What it's for¶
A workspace holds a set of voice agents, phone numbers, campaigns, and integrations. Each workspace in Voicent AI is linked to one Retell account through a Retell API key. The Workspaces page lists your organization's workspaces, shows whether each one is connected to Retell, and lets you add new workspaces and refresh their data.
Who can use it¶
You need the Admin role (or higher) to use this page. The Workspaces item appears in the sidebar under Administration only for admins. If someone without that role opens the page, they are sent away or see "You don't have permission to access this page."
See your workspaces¶
The page title shows Workspace Management. The table lists each workspace with:
| Column | What it shows |
|---|---|
| Workspace | The workspace name and its short name (slug). |
| Connection | Connected, Syncing, Error, or Disconnected. |
| Members | How many people belong to the workspace. |
| Agents | How many active voice agents it has. |
| Last Synced | When agents were last synced from Retell, such as "5m ago" or Never. |
| Actions | Sync and Retell buttons. |
To find a workspace, type in Search workspaces.... You can search by name, slug, or description.
Connect a new workspace¶
Before you start, get your Retell API key. In your Retell dashboard, go to Settings > API Keys. Also make sure the person who will own the workspace already has a user account. See Users.
- Click Connect Retell Workspace.
- Paste your key into Retell API Key.
- Click Test Connection. If it works, you see "Connected. Found N agent(s)."
- Choose the Workspace owner from the list of people in your organization. You are selected by default.
- Enter a Workspace Name. The Slug fills in for you. You can edit it.
- Optionally, add a Description.
- Click Connect & Sync.
Voicent AI creates the workspace and copies your agents and phone numbers from Retell. The new workspace then appears in the list and in the workspace switcher in the sidebar.
Note
Workspace Name, Slug, and Description stay locked until the connection test succeeds. If you change the API key, run Test Connection again.
Sync a workspace¶
Sync pulls the latest agents and phone numbers from Retell.
- Find the workspace in the list.
- Click Sync in the Actions column.
- The status shows Syncing, then Connected when it finishes, or Error if it fails.
To sync calls, or to sync on a schedule, use the Retell Sync tab in Settings.
Open Retell¶
Click Retell in the Actions column to open the Retell dashboard in a new tab.
Troubleshooting¶
- The connection test shows an error. Check that you copied the whole API key with no extra spaces, and that the key is still active in Retell. Then test again.
- "Please test the Retell connection first." Click Test Connection and wait for a success message before you click Connect & Sync.
- "Select an owner from this tenant first." Pick someone from Workspace owner.
- "Add a user to this tenant before creating a workspace." No one is available to own the workspace. Invite someone on the Users page first.
- A workspace shows Error after a sync. Click Sync again. If it still fails, check that the workspace's Retell API key is still valid in your Retell account, then contact support.
- "No workspaces found." Clear your search, or connect your first Retell workspace.
